Happy New Year to the Friends of the Los Cabos Jewish Community
What an exciting year for the Los Cabos Jewish Community. Six months ago Rabbi Shalom Silver and his beautiful family arrived from Israel and we opened a full time synagogue. Our Casa Shalom is a non-denominational Jewish organization welcoming Jews of all levels of observance.
The synagogue is a continuation of the momentum started by Rabbi Mendel Polichenko, Jose Galicot, David Greenberg and Itsik Nachmany.
The financial commitment to a full time synagogue is significant. When possible, we have tried to keep costs to a minimum, including the Rabbi and his wife permitting the residence to function as the sanctuary and social hall.
Thank you to all who have contributed. At the end of our first year, we are going to recognize all those who have contributed to our community. Those individuals donating $5,000 or more will be considered Founders of the Los Cabos Jewish Community.
In spite of our efforts, we are US$45,000 short to meet our funding goal for this first year of operations.
To continue, we need everyone's cooperation, to the best of their ability. In the absence of your generosity, we cannot continue the programs and services you are enjoying, nor can just a few people continue to support the presence of our dedicated Rabbi and his family.
The Congregation belongs to all of us and when we each do our share, everyone benefits. As we approach the High Holidays, it is appropriate we think about how important it is to have a place to pray surrounded by our friends and family and to take great pride in the Community we have all helped create.
Jewish tradition teaches negative decrees for the New Year can be reversed by "prayer, charity and repentance." I encourage you to join our efforts and donate to Casa Shalom. US tax deductible receipts are available.
